SAME DAY HAY FEVER APPOINTMENTS In Birmingham

Booking during the season

Symptoms tend to arrive suddenly and appointments fill quickly from late spring. Same day and next day slots are usually available. If nothing suitable shows online, call 0121 798 0729.

When in the season to come

As soon as symptoms begin, typically between March and July. A single injection usually lasts 8 to 12 weeks, and some effects can last up to 6 months.

Pollen in and around Birmingham

The West Midlands sits between the grass pollen of the surrounding countryside and city centre pollution, which is why symptoms here often persist longer than a single peak would explain.

Who the hay fever injection suits IN BIRMINGHAM

It may suit you if:

• You are 18 or over.

• Your symptoms are moderate to severe.

• Antihistamines and steroid nasal sprays have not controlled them, taken properly and for long enough.

• Your symptoms are affecting work, study, sleep or driving.

It is not suitable if you:

• Are under 18.

• Are pregnant or breastfeeding.

• Have an active infection.

• Have diabetes, where a steroid injection can raise blood sugar.

• Have glaucoma, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or a history of steroid related mood disturbance.

We do decline people, and the assessment is what the £75 covers whether or not you go ahead.

    What is Private GP

What to expect at your BIRMINGHAM APPOINTMENT

Your doctor reviews your symptoms, what you have already tried and how you took it, your medical history and your current medicines. A surprising number of people have not had a fair trial of the basics, and fixing that is often quicker, cheaper and safer than an injection.

If the injection is appropriate, it is given as a single intramuscular injection, usually into the buttock, and takes a few minutes. You can leave straight afterwards.

Side effects reported side effects are headache and temporary sleep disturbance. Because this is a systemic corticosteroid, it can also affect mood and blood sugar, and repeated injections season after season carry more concern than a single one. Your doctor will go through this with you.
