For hay fever severe enough that antihistamines and steroid nasal sprays are not controlling it. We are on Rykneld Road in Littleover, on the south west side of Derby, with the A38 and A50 both close. Same day appointments are usually available through the season.

As soon as symptoms begin, typically between March and July. A single injection usually lasts 8 to 12 weeks, and some effects can last up to 6 months.
Derby sits between arable land and the Peak District, so both oilseed rape in spring and grass pollen through summer are common triggers here.

We do decline people, and the assessment is what the £75 covers whether or not you go ahead.

Your doctor reviews your symptoms, what you have already tried and how you took it, your medical history and your current medicines. A surprising number of people have not had a fair trial of the basics, and fixing that is often quicker, cheaper and safer than an injection.
If the injection is appropriate it is given as a single intramuscular injection, usually into the buttock, and takes a few minutes. You can leave straight afterwards.
Side effects reported commonly are headache and temporary sleep disturbance. Because this is a systemic corticosteroid, it can also affect mood and blood sugar, and repeated injections season after season carry more concern than a single one. Your doctor will go through this with you.

Derby sits between arable land and the Peak District, so both oilseed rape in spring and grass pollen through summer are common triggers here. As a rule, come as soon as symptoms begin rather than waiting to see whether they settle.
It is a licensed medicine, but the NHS stopped offering it routinely for hay fever. The reason is that it is a systemic steroid given for a condition that is not dangerous and usually responds to other treatment. Your doctor will go through that with you before you decide.
No. We offer this to adults of 18 and over only.
Repeat injections season after season carry more concern than a single one, because of the cumulative effects of systemic steroid. That is a conversation to have with your doctor rather than a booking to make automatically.

Usually yes. Same day appointments are generally available through the season. If nothing suitable appears online, call 01332 531552.

Typically 8 to 12 weeks, and some effects can last up to 6 months. For many people that covers the worst of the season.
Yes, and taken properly. Many people have used an antihistamine occasionally or a nasal spray with the wrong technique, and correcting that works often enough to be worth trying first.
Not in pregnancy. With diabetes it can raise your blood sugar, so it needs a proper discussion and is often not the right choice.
We will say so and explain what would help instead. The £75 covers the consultation either way.
