What the ADHD assessment involves IN CAMBRIDGE
Step 1.
Pre assessment questionnaires. Completed before your first appointment, covering symptoms across your life rather than only now.
Step 2.
Screening consultation. Thirty to forty five minutes with a clinical psychiatrist, by video call.
Step 3.
Full diagnostic assessment. One and a half to two hours, using standardised measures and a clinical interview, with the QbCheck computer based test available alongside it.
Step 4.
Feedback and written report. Results discussed in a follow up appointment, with a full diagnostic report and recommendations.
An assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis. A thorough one sometimes concludes that something else fits better, and that is a useful outcome rather than a wasted fee.
What happens after diagnosis IN CAMBRIDGE
- Medication. Our consultant psychiatrists can prescribe ADHD medication after a confirmed diagnosis, with titration appointments to find the right dose and review appointments to monitor how it is working.
