Private Medical Clinic

Private Imaging and Scan Referrals

Private MRI, CT, ultrasound and X-ray with a consultant radiologist report.

MRI, CT, ultrasound and X-ray, arranged quickly and reported by a consultant radiologist. The report goes to the doctor who referred you, so someone who knows your history explains what it means rather than leaving you to read it alone.

Book an imaging and radiology appointment Without The Wait

NHS imaging waits are among the longest in the system, and a scan you are waiting months for is often the only thing standing between you and an answer. Private imaging removes that wait.

You do not need an existing referral. A GP assesses you, decides which scan will actually answer the question, and refers you to a partner imaging facility. That assessment matters more than it sounds: the wrong scan is an expensive way to learn nothing, and choosing between an ultrasound, an MRI and a CT depends entirely on what is being looked for. When the report comes back, a doctor goes through it with you and arranges whatever follows, whether that is treatment, a specialist referral or reassurance.

    Which scan for WHICH PROBLEM

    Ultrasound

No radiation, good for soft tissue, abdomen, pelvis, thyroid, testes, and for looking at tendons and joints dynamically. Usually, the first choice where it can answer the question, since it is cheaper and quicker.

    X Ray

Fast and inexpensive, best for bones, chest and suspected fractures. Uses ionising radiation. Available via our partner radiology facility.

    MRI

No radiation, the most detailed view of soft tissue, discs, ligaments, cartilage, brain, and spinal cord. The usual choice for persistent joint, back, or neurological symptoms. Takes longer and costs more.

    CT

Fast and detailed, strong for chest, abdomen, complex fractures, and acute problems. Uses a higher radiation dose than X-ray, so it is chosen where that is justified by what is being looked for.

More imaging is not automatically better. Scans of people without symptoms find incidental abnormalities that turn out to be harmless, and chasing them causes anxiety and further tests. Part of what the consultation is for is deciding whether a scan will genuinely answer your question.

Clinical quality is not the difference here. NHS imaging and reporting are of a high standard, and the same radiologists often work in both. What you are paying for is time.
