Book your PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL
A pre-placement health assessment establishes whether a new starter is fit for the specific demands of their role, and what adjustments would help them do it well. When done properly, it protects the employee, reduces the risk of early absence, and provides a documented basis for any adjustments.
Two things we would want you to know up front, because they are frequently misunderstood.
First, the timing is a legal matter. Under the Equality Act 2010, health questions must generally not be asked before a job offer is made. So the assessment happens after a conditional offer, which is why the correct term is pre placement rather than pre employment. Using a health assessment to screen candidates before offer risks a disability discrimination claim.
Second, what you get back is a fitness opinion, not a medical record. Clinical detail remains confidential to the employee. Your report will say whether they are fit for the role, what adjustments are recommended, and whether any restriction applies. That is what you need to make a decision, and it is all you are entitled to.
Within that framework, our job is to turn assessments around fast enough that your start date holds.

How to book your PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL
Step 1.
Conditional Offer Made
You make your offer, then refer the candidate for assessment. This sequence is what keeps the process lawful
Step 2.
Health Questionnaire
The candidate completes a confidential questionnaire, reviewed by a clinician against the role’s requirements.
Step 3.
Assessment Where Indicated
Most starters need nothing further. Where an examination or tests are needed, these are arranged promptly.
Step 4.
Report to You
A clear fitness opinion with any recommended adjustments, shared with the employee first, then released to you.

All Your Questions, ANSWERED
Everything you need to know about our clinics
After a conditional offer, not during candidate screening. Health enquiries before offer are restricted by the Equality Act.
Whether the person is fit for the role, what adjustments are recommended, and any restrictions. It will not disclose diagnoses or clinical detail.
The report will specify which functions are affected and what adjustments might address them. Your duty is to consider adjustments, and withdrawing an offer without doing so is where risk arises.
Not necessarily. For most office roles with no specific physical or safety requirement, the value is limited. We will advise you where to focus.
No, and doing so risks a disability discrimination claim. Its purpose is fitness for the role and identifying reasonable adjustments.
Because the clinician’s duty of confidentiality is to the individual. You get what you need to make an employment decision, which is the fitness opinion.
No. Questionnaire triage clears the majority, with examination for the minority who need it.
