Same Day Online Appointments
Same day video and telephone slots are usually available nationwide.
A full appointment by video or phone, not a form and a prescription. Some things cannot be assessed remotely and we will say so rather than guessing, but most consultations resolve completely in one call, including any prescription or letter you need.
An online GP consultation gives you a proper appointment with a GMC registered doctor, by video or telephone, usually on the same day. You talk through your symptoms without a time limit, and your GP explains what they think is happening and what to do next.
Not everything can be handled remotely, and we will tell you honestly when you need to be seen in person or examined. Where a remote consultation is appropriate, you leave the call with a plan, and any private prescription, sick note or referral letter follows immediately by email.

Same day video and telephone slots are usually available nationwide.
Online appointments run alongside clinic hours, Monday to Friday 8am to 7pm, and Saturday 9:00 to 2:00pm
If your GP decides you need examining, you can be seen at any of our ten clinics.
We do not prescribe controlled drugs.

An online GP consultation is a full private GP appointment delivered by video call or telephone instead of in person. You get the same GMC registered doctor, the same unhurried conversation, and the same ability to prescribe, refer and issue certificates where clinically appropriate.
The limitation is physical examination. A GP can see a rash, assess how you look and sound, and take a detailed history remotely, but they cannot listen to your chest, palpate your abdomen or take your blood pressure over a video call. A good remote consultation therefore includes an honest judgement about whether you need to be seen, and we would rather bring you into a clinic than guess.
An NHS GP is free at the point of use but often has longer waits and shorter appointments. A private GP is paid for directly, usually seen the same day or within days, with longer consultations and greater continuity. You can use both, and seeing a private GP does not affect your NHS care.
| Online Private GP Consultation | NHS Online or Telephone Appointment | |
|---|---|---|
| Access | Usually same day | Depends on surgery capacity and triage |
| Registration | None required | Must be registered at the practice |
| Appointment length | No strict time limit | Typically limited |
| Continuity | You can request the same GP | Whichever clinician is on duty |
| Prescriptions | Private prescription during the appointment, where clinically appropriate | NHS prescription |
| Certificates | Emailed immediately, where clinically appropriate | Subject to appointment availability |
| Escalation to in person | Ten clinics available for examination | Via your own surgery |
| Cost | £49 telephone, £79 video | Free at point of use |
