OTOPLASTY (Ear Correction Surgery)

Prominent ears reset closer to the head, by a consultant plastic surgeon, under local anaesthetic as a day case.

Otoplasty, also called pinnaplasty, reshapes the cartilage of the external ear so that prominent ears sit closer to the head. It changes the ear's position rather than its size. At our clinic it is performed by Mr Samuel George, a consultant plastic surgeon on the GMC specialist register.

Also known as: pinnaplasty, ear correction surgery, ear pinning, prominent ear correction.

Prominent ears are almost always a matter of cartilage shape rather than ear size. In most people the fold that should curve the upper ear back has not formed fully, or the bowl of the ear is deeper than usual, and the result is an ear that sits further from the head. Otoplasty reshapes that cartilage so the ear sits closer. It is one of the most reliably satisfying procedures in cosmetic surgery, largely because the complaint is specific and the fix addresses it directly.

Why otoplasty should be assessed Before Treatment

At your consultation, our clinician assesses the area, so you know it is being looked at properly. Where it matters, a consultant plans the safest approach, and any tissue removed is sent for histology so nothing is missed.

What to expect from Your Visit

Most procedures are carried out as a day case under local anaesthetic. A surgical nurse is with you throughout, and you leave with clear aftercare advice and a named contact for any concerns.

How we perform This Procedure

For a procedure suitable for treatment, a consultant works in a dedicated theatre with surgical care and precise technique, and, where relevant, sends a sample for histology.

How much does Otoplasty Cost?

We confirm your price in writing after your consultation, with no hidden fees and no referral needed.
