Book An Appointment

Performed by Mr Samuel George, consultant plastic surgeon, in our minor operations theatre in Edgbaston, under local anaesthetic as a day case. Why choose us for your EYELID SURGERY IN BIRMINGHAM

Regulated by the Care Quality Commission
  • THE RIGHT DIAGNOSIS FIRST

Lid skin, brow descent or ptosis established before anything is offered.

  • CONSULTANT PLASTIC SURGEON

Operated by Mr Samuel George, GMC Specialist Register, not a visiting injector.

  • HONEST ABOUT WHETHER TO OPERATE.

A lump that needs imaging or a specialist opinion gets one, not an operation.

  • LOCAL ANAESTHETIC, DAY CASE

Awake, about an hour, no general anaesthetic and no overnight stay.

  • A WRITTEN PRICE AFTER ASSESSMENT

From £995, with larger or deeper lipomas quoted properly rather than guessed.

Awake, no general anaesthetic, no overnight stay, and you drive home.

  • PRICES PUBLISHED IN FULL

Upper £2,695, lower £2,995, both £4,995. No enquiry required to find out.

  • TOLD HONESTLY IF IT WILL NOT HELP

Dark circles and fine crepey skin are not blepharoplasty problems.

Our Edgbaston clinic AND SURGICAL THEATRE

Your procedure takes place in our own minor operations theatre, not in a consulting room with the lights turned up. It is at 88 Hagley Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham B16 8LU, and it is the surgical site for the whole Private Medical Clinic network.

A surgical nurse is with you from the moment you come through to theatre until you leave, which counts for more than it sounds when you are awake for your own operation. Everything is under local anaesthetic as a day case, so there is no general anaesthetic, no overnight stay, and you are home the same day.

I am your SURGEON

You will see me throughout the journey - at consultation, on the day of surgery, and at every review afterwards.

Am I suitable, and IS IT THE LID OR THE BROW?

This is the question that decides whether you will be happy with the result, and it is the one most consultations skip. Hooded upper lids can come from excess lid skin, from a brow that has descended, or from ptosis, where the lid margin itself sits low because the muscle has weakened. They look similar in the mirror and they need different operations.

Blepharoplasty addresses excess lid skin. It will not lift a heavy brow, and it will not correct ptosis. Operating on the wrong one is how people end up disappointed after surgery that was technically well done. At your consultation the surgeon works out which you have, and tells you plainly if eyelid surgery is not the answer.

Lower lids are a different judgement again. Under-eye bags from herniated fat respond well. Fine crepey skin, dark circles from pigment, and hollowing from volume loss do not, and are better treated non-surgically or left alone. Adults aged 18 and over, and a 14-day cooling-off period applies.

How BLEPHAROPLASTY WORKS

Step by Step, With Nothing Glossed Over

Upper eyelid surgery is done through an incision in the natural crease of the lid, so the scar sits hidden when your eyes are open. Excess skin, and a strip of muscle and fat where needed, is removed and the incision closed with very fine sutures.

Lower eyelid surgery is approached either just below the lash line or from inside the lid, depending on whether skin needs removing as well as fat repositioning. Where only fat is involved, the incision inside the lid leaves no visible scar at all.

Both are done under local anaesthetic with you awake, taking about an hour for one pair of lids. There is no general anaesthetic and no overnight stay, and you go home the same day with someone to drive you.

Realistic results AND THE GROWTH TIMELINE

  1. Stage 1

    SAME DAY

Home within a couple of hours. Cool packs, head elevated, someone to drive you.

  2. Stage 2

    DAYS 1 TO 3

Peak swelling and bruising. This is the stage people are least prepared for.

  3. Stage 3

    DAYS 7 TO 14

Sutures removed. Bruising turning yellow and starting to fade.

  4. Stage 4

    WEEKS 3 TO 6

Presentable in public, and most people are back at work well before this.

  5. Stage 5

    WEEKS 6 TO 12

Swelling resolved, scars fading, the result settling into its final shape.

  6. Stage 6

    MONTHS 6 TO 12

Scars pale to near invisible in the crease. Upper lid results last many years.

Eyelid Surgery BEFORE AND AFTER RESULTS

Before and after photographs are the most persuasive thing on a surgery page, which is exactly why they have to be handled properly. Every image here is a real patient of this clinic who has given documented written consent, and the results shown are typical rather than the best we have ever achieved.
