Private Heart Health Check

Cardiac risk assessment with ECG and blood testing, interpreted by a doctor.

Cardiac risk is not one number. It is blood pressure, cholesterol balance, blood sugar, family history and what an ECG shows, considered together. We assess all of it, and we are honest that some popular cardiac tests add little in someone without symptoms.

Book your appointment WITHOUT THE WAIT

Cardiovascular disease remains the biggest cause of death in the UK, and the frustrating part is how much of it is predictable years in advance. Blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, weight, smoking and family history together give a reasonable estimate of your risk over the next decade, and most of those factors respond to being addressed.

A heart health check measures them, calculates your risk, and turns it into something you can act on. If your risk is low, you get told that plainly rather than sold something. If it is raised, you get a specific plan: which numbers to move, by how much, and whether medication is worth considering.

If you have symptoms, this is not the right page. Chest pain, breathlessness on exertion that is new or worsening, palpitations with dizziness or blackouts, or chest discomfort spreading to your arm or jaw all need assessing now, not screening. Call 999 for chest pain that is severe, lasts more than fifteen minutes, or comes with sweating, nausea or breathlessness. For anything less urgent but new, book a GP consultation rather than a health check, and say what your symptoms are when you book.

Why choose our PRIVATE HEART HEALTH CHECK CLINIC

  • No eligibility criteria and no age band, unlike the NHS Health Check.
  • Same day appointments and results in 24 to 48 hours.
  • A calculated ten year cardiovascular risk score, not a list of raw numbers.
  • Family history taken properly, which is where the NHS check is often thinnest.
  • Treatment started where clinically appropriate, including blood pressure and cholesterol medication.
  • Referral to cardiology arranged promptly where investigation is needed.
  • Repeat testing to show whether your changes are working.
  • Available at any age, which matters if you have a strong family history in your thirties or forties.
  • Your NHS GP registration is unaffected, and we share results on request with your consent.

How to book HEART HEALTH CHECK

  1. Step 1

    Book Your Appointment

Morning slots suit the fasting tests best. Tell us if you have any symptoms, as that changes what you need.

  2. Step 2

    Measurements and History

Blood pressure, height, weight, waist measurement, smoking and alcohol history, and a proper family history.

  3. Step 3

    Blood Tests

Lipid profile and blood sugar, with results in 24 to 48 hours.

  4. Step 4

    Your Risk and Your Plan

A doctor explains your calculated ten year risk, which numbers matter most for you, and what will actually move them, including medication where clinically appropriate.

  • No eligibility criteria, at any age.

    What is Heart Health Check?

A heart health check estimates your risk of a heart attack or stroke over the next ten years, and identifies which factors are driving that risk in your particular case. It combines measurements (blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, weight) with things that cannot be measured but matter enormously (age, sex, family history, smoking, existing conditions) and produces a percentage risk.

The percentage is not the point. The point is what sits behind it. Two people with the same ten year risk can need entirely different action, because one has a blood pressure problem and the other has a lipid problem, and the interventions are different. That is why the consultation matters more than the numbers: the value is in identifying which lever to pull for you.

What this check is not. It is not a test for existing heart disease. It assesses risk in people without symptoms. A reassuring result does not mean your heart has been examined and found healthy, and it does not mean symptoms can be ignored. If you develop chest pain, new breathlessness on exertion, or palpitations with dizziness, that needs assessing on its own terms regardless of what a risk score said last month. We would rather be plain about that than let a low risk score give false comfort.

if you are 40 to 74 and your NHS Health Check is due, take it. It is free and it covers the same ground. This service is worth paying for when you are outside the age band, want it more often than every five years, have a family history you want assessed properly, or want a doctor to explain it and start treatment in the same appointment.
